Hi friends, Erica here!
To kick this off let’s get started with things I’m currently working on!
WiPs
I have 2 WiPs at the moment. The Bernat Chevron Panel Knit Baby Blanket and the Wide Leg Shorts by Wannipa Yunker (Knitcroaddict).
For the baby blanket I’m using Premier Yarns Anti-Pilling Everyday DK in the Cream, Slate, Navy, Aqua, Rosewood, Dusty Rose, and Mustard colorways. This is going to be a delayed gift for one of my nieces but I’m excited for it! My gauge was a bit bigger than the pattern recommended so I decided to remove a row of chevrons from the top and the bottom. It ends up with less cream space and I’ve had to change the color order a bit. I still want cream to boarder the top and bottom so I’ve had to adjust the color start and end points as well. At this point I’m following the row counts but making up the colors as I go. I also decided to join the panels as I go so I don’t have to seam them together at the end. It’s made for a bit of an interesting color swap along the join but I like how it’s turning out! I love the bright colors of the blanket and think it’ll be the perfect gift for my niece.
For the Wide Leg Shorts I’m using Truboo in Raisin. I’ve followed the waistband as written but switched up the stitch pattern for the main body of the shorts as I wanted a bit more of a denser fabric. I’ve done a *sc, ch2, sc* grouping per 2 stitches in the written pattern. Then on the next row it’s the same grouping that is worked into the ch2 space. Luckily with this yarn it still has a nice drape to it! I am a bit worried about not having enough yarn but we’ll see how it goes.
FOs
This month I have one FO it’s the Finnegan’s Triangle by Heather Bellringer. I used a yarn my husband picked up for me on a work trip to Idaho last year. I was initially aiming for the largest size which turned out to be a bit ambitious with the amount of yarn I had. I ended up doing the second largest size without the button hole or fringe. Overall it worked up quickly and was repetitive enough for some good TV watching. The ending fabric has a great drape! Next time I make one of these shawls I definitely want to add the buttonhole.
Frogs

Taking apart a project is sometimes more fun than working it up. I was working on my own variation of the Umma Cape by Aegyoknit. I was using a yarn I had way too much of for a separate project (Woollike in Cream held triple) and joined it with some left over mohair from yet another project I’ll talk about later. It was great and super soft but I just didn’t like the way the (almost) end product looked on me. It’s been sitting in a bin with other things I’m thinking about frogging until the other night I decided it was time. Other than the bind off edges it came apart really nicely which I was worried about with the mohair content. I’m thinking of using the yarn on the Vanlife by Emilie Luis. I had started this with another yarn but ended up frogging that too. I didn’t have enough yarn that time.
Wishlist
That’s a pretty good transition to my wishlist/queued patterns/projects. At the top of the queue is the White Lily Blanket by Elena Fedotova. It’ll be a gift for a nephew expected this summer! Similar to the other blanket I also plan on using Premier Anti-Pilling Everyday DK for this project.
For other projects for myself I have the following:
- Slow Morning DK by Camille Heng
- Alps Sweater by Ekaterina Vorobeva
- Cyclone Hat by MyGurumi
- Engravings by Rachel Illsley
- Lola Hooded Vest by ChiWei Ranck
Why so many wishlist items? Well this weekend I’ll be headed to YarnCon in Chicago and I’m limiting my purchases to yarn that will be used in one of these 5 patterns. I have a bad habit of grabbing yarn that is pretty and then not knowing what to do with it. I’m trying to get better at that.
Closing
Thanks for stopping by this month! Let me know if there are any patterns I should try next or maybe ones I should avoid. See you soon!
